Unadulterated pressure is less useful it freezes us up and tears us down. At long last, take a practical perspective on the test. It's significant; I'm certainly not denyingthat. In any case, it is anything but an incomprehensibly important issue so don't treat it like one. Wear your world goggles when you take a gander at the test. CHAPTER I 1.1 INTRODUCTION Sourcing in personnel management work refers to the identification and uncovering of candidates (also known as talent) through proactive recruiting techniques. A third-party recruitment agency or corporate recruiting department can now be made up of individuals dedicated to just the sourcing of candidates while recruiters can either focus on more account management responsibilities or leverage sourcing experts to supplement an additional volume of potential candidates. They can specialize in client relationships only (sales or bu siness development), in finding candidates (recruiting or sourcing), or in both areas. Most recruiters tend to specialize in either permanent, full-time, direct-hire positions, or in contract positions, but occasionally in both. In an executive-search assignment, the employee-gaining client company – not the person being hired – pays the search firm its fee. Recruitment agencies also make use of social networking sites extensively to target the right candidate for jobs. Many employment websites are designed to allow employers to post job requirements for a position to be filled and are commonly known as job boards. Classroom Management free essay sample

The Classroom Management training is a four module learning tool essential to teachers for providing the best and most appropriate discipline plan. The online training tool consists of four modules. Each module provides a pre-test and post-test along with practice activities to prepare one for the real world. Module 1-Establishing Classroom Rules for Student Deportment Module 1 discusses when and how classroom rules should be established. Rules should be established with the assistance of the students. It helps them to retain the knowledge of what is expected. It lists sample rules that must be positively stated. There is a difference between school rules and classroom rules. This module outlines rules for the school and the classroom. It offers ways to actually teach rules and specifies some reinforces to follow with behavior. After reviewing module 1, I plan to engage my students in the rule making process. I think it will be helpful to allow them to actively involve themselves with something that they are expected to adhere to. However, as important as it is for teachers to achieve this skill, it is just as important for students to believe they their teacher is â€Å"withit. † Students will still act disruptively if they feel the teacher does not notice them. Some ways that teachers can display this technique are: consistently suppress misbehaviors of exactly those students who began the problem; dealing with the more serious of two discipline problems occurring simultaneously; and decisively handling off-task behavior before it gets out of hand or imitated by other students(â€Å"Whom are We Talking About: Jacob Kounin,† 2008).Similar to withitness, overlapping involves the ability to attend to multiple classroom events at one time, and avoiding fixating on one event at the expense of all other classroom activities. For example, if a teacher is conducting small group assignments, and a pair is off task, a teacher may address them from a distance while still conducting the activity. (â€Å"The Kounin Model,† 2008). Momentum is keeping the lesson moving briskly, requiring the teacher to plan effectively to avoid slow downs.Kounin believes that teachers should not lecture for a long period of time to allow students to gain knowledge by moving around and maximizing their allotted time. By minimizing delays and interruptions, causes students will not lose interest and misbehave. (Charles, 1989). In conjunction with momentum is smoothness. While lecturing, a teacher must maintain direction and not drift off on tangents, be diverted with irrelevant questions and information or fall victim to â€Å"flip flops,† â€Å"dangles,† or â€Å"truncation. Otherwise, students will be confused and act out from loss of interest. (â€Å"Classroom Management Theorist and Theories/Jacob Kounin,† 2009) Lastly, Kounin refers to group focus as the ability to engage the whole class. Some techniques he offers are: building suspense or ask community questions Though community questions may appear random, it draws the group’s attention and intrigue. The teacher must incorporate procedures to handle multiple situations at once to maintain group focus. For example, if a student completes an assignment early, he/she must have a back up plan such as providing another assignment or enrichment activity while he/she helps other students that are struggling (â€Å"Classroom Management Theorist and Theories/Jacob Kounin,† 2009). Kounin’s Model of Classroom Management is an important topic for teacher’s today, because it is one of the most difficult skills to acquire. Student-centered classrooms and discovery lessons are becoming much more popular in our classrooms, leading to a more active learning environment. Being able to handle multiple situations at once, keeping students engaged, maintaining momentum and smoothness in your lessons and transitions takes experience. These are the most difficult techniques for a first year teacher to learn; therefore, making them a habit during that year will allow for mastery of these skills to occur. I believe that Kounin’s Model is important to develop an effective classroom environment; however, discipline problems will occur, no matter the amount of preventive planning a teacher makes.Kounin does not address his procedures for disciplining, if he would or would not discipline children differently, nor does he address misbehaving as a response to some factor that is outside of the teacher’s control. As a teacher, I would incorporate Kounin’s theory in my teaching planning and practices, though remembering that each student may require different accommodations. References Charles, C. M. Rupert McCall Essays - Poetic Rhythm, Rhyme, Poetic Form

Rupert McCall Jason McCall, more communally known as Rupert McCall has been called the modern day banjo Patterson and Henry Lawson. He has the ability to express his emotions though his poetry with a warm and compelling simplicity. He has the ability to combine passion with humor in his poetry which captures the hearts of all true Australian's, from school kids to sports fans and blue-collar workers to businessmen. When reading Rupert's poetry it's easy to get caught up in the emotion, patriotism and true aussie pride that he has of this beautiful country that exists in his poetry. Rupert McCall is a 26-year-old solicitor who has put his legal career on hold to peruse his number one passion - poetry and creative writing. He went on a tour of the 163 world hotspots as part of his research and mental preparation for his third book entitled "Green and Gold Malaria" which has already sold 60000 copies. Rupert has also produced a CD, which has nearly reached gold status. The image that comes across in his poetry is one of a "True Blue Aussie". He writes about things in a way that only a true Aussie would understand. His poetry is on topics such as cricket, AFL and proud Australian moments such as the Australian Rugby team winning the World Cup. If an immigrant from Italy was to read Ruperts poetry, they would not appreciate it. Because he writes about Australian issues that only true Australians would understand. So they would think that he has a screw loose or something. The three poems featured in this anthology are "Green and Gold Malaria", "The Tubby Little Trooper" and "A Land of Backyard Cricket". Green and Gold Malaria tells a story of an Australian man who comes home from overseas and goes to the doctor to get the verdict on an allergy he gets when he's witnessing Australians who have done heroic things in there field of expertise. Whether it be the Anzacs in the Anzac day parade or Border making a gutsy ton. The doctor then goes on to tell him that there is no cure for it because it's just "Good Old Aussie Pride". If an immigrant from East Timor was to read this poem they would not understand The message in this poem is that Australians are proud of this beautiful country and the people who live in it and represent it. Throughout this poem there have been three types of poetic devices used. Alliterations have been used in the lines "And Matilda sends me waltzing with a billy-boiling shiver" Billy-boiling being the alliteration. Another one appears in the line "`From the beaches here in Queensland to the sweeping shores of Broome" sweeping shores being the alliteration this time. The last alliteration in this poem appears in the line "The medical profession call it ?green and gold malaria' ". Green and Gold being the alliteration. Another poetic device used in this poem is a personification that appears in the line "Well, the Doctor scratched his melon with a rather worried look". The poet using melon as a symbol for the doctors head. The rhyme scheme used in this poem is AABB. ?The Tubby Little Trooper' tells a story of David Boon arguably Australia's bravest cricketer ever to take the field. The poem is written from a teammates point of view who compares the battles he had on the field to war. I think the purpose of this poem is to reflect to the readers the guts and the determination of this great man has to win. There are several poetic devices used in this poem they are a metaphor, in the line " he is good old fashioned guts. There are quite a few alliterations in this poem. The lines " we are standing sure and strong", "This tubby little trooper make his stand", "and I shiver Green and Gold" and "without a word to say" all have at least 2 words starting with the same letter in close proximity to each other. There are two onomatopoeia's used in this poem they are located in the lines"missiles fly and bullets rattle" rattle being the noise bullets make when shot out of a gun. And the other being in the line "when his crashing bat salutes the roaring crowd" There is two onomatopoeia's in this line they are crashing being the noise of bat hitting ball and roaring symbolizing the noise the crowd makes. The rhyme scheme used in ?The Tubby Little Trooper' is AABAAB. This

Water Wars essays

Water Wars essays Drinking a glass of water from our faucet is second nature to us. It is hard to believe that in view of the fact of the limited water resource we have, we may not be able to enjoy the vast amount of water we selfishly consume. It is a true embarrassment how San Diego and other big counties, such as Los Angeles, are erroneously accusing the Imperial Valley of having too much water for our own good. What these full-size cities do not recognize is that if it was not for our farming and field workers, they would not have there food on the table. It seems a little exaggerated, but just the way the economic cycle flows, the Imperial Valley receiving this amount of water is for a good and instrumental motivation. We require that water, not to quench the thirst of our peoples craving but only to feed the soil and allow our agricultural process to continue producing lots of our fruits and vegetables that we lay on our table to feed our offspring and loved ones. One good way to break this common knowledge to the capital desiring community that wants our rightfully given water is to tell them in laymens terms what in reality is going on. It in fact is not too hard to comprehend that the longer a shower you take. The more water you are going to waist. If we set a timer in our showers, for five minutes, and try to beat the record of showering under those five minuets, we can accumulate a whole lot of water just by making water conservation a diversion or a competition where the grand prize is cash. I think they should make water conservation like daylight savings. An additional way of helping our communities understand the true significance of water is to educate them. Tell them the actuality of how wasting water or snatching Imperial Valleys water concern every person. Not just by creating laws that no one really understands, but by making everyone conscious of the damage that we are causi ...

W3 DQs Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

W3 DQs - Assignment Example China has viewed Taiwan leaders as stubborn although this was not a difficult demand to fulfill, and had considered war on the region as a means of ending the crisis. Once war is accepted as the only solution with respect to this crisis, respect for the majority of citizens in both China and Taiwan are at risk and more so, laws on peace and human rights violations. Offensive trial missiles by both China and Taiwan are arguably among the key attempts to spur out war. This show of military and missile supremacy where each country does so close to the boarders of the other is considered provocative. It is obvious that there is a Despite the numerous suggestions of solutions to this problem, there is continued defiance from both parties. The disarmament law that was formulated after the First World War, which tries to discourage mass accumulation of arms and possibilities of occurrence of war, is at stake. Despite the efforts that the United States has put in to resolve the Taiwan status peacefully, there still exist the challenge posed by international events and political developments in Taipei and Beijing. Not only has these events and developments jeopardized US efforts, but also it has created fresh tension between the US and China as well as Taiwan and the mainland. With a strong economic bond, that joins Taiwan and the mainland, resolving the Taiwan status through war would be the last option for both parties. Romberg has reported increased economic interaction between mainland and Taiwan. Political development in Beijing is traced back in 1996, during the Chinese military exercises and missile tests (Miskel, 4). These tests proved to be unusually close to Taiwan. The tests also seemed to be a show of naval and air operations that China would presumably employ in an invasion of Taiwan. (Romberg, 5) On its part, Taipei is said to have made necessary preparation for possible attacks from the mainland.

My drama group comprised Essay Example for Free

My drama group comprised Essay My drama group comprised of five people including myself. We set out to create an improvised piece of drama, thematically based on greed, love, betrayal, envy and revenge. During the time spent preparing for our improvisation, we came across many sources that had an immense influence on our piece. In order to appropriately progress with the play, we had to research the key elements within the sources to which were relevant to our context. As it was an improvised production we did not follow a set script but created a basic guideline from which we could refer to and enable us to keep on track. Our research into these sources was definitely apparent in our final performance, which was acted out in front of our drama set. In this essay, I intend to compare our improvised piece of drama with the sources we used in order to point out the similarities and illustrate the inspiration we drew from them. During the course of producing our play, we used the well-known novel and recently filmed The Count of Monte Cristo to draw influence on certain scenes, which clearly showed up in our final production. The plot of the Count of Monte Cristo is also thematically based upon betrayal, love, greed, envy and revenge. As a young sailor, Edmond Dantes, an honest and humble man whose peaceful life and plans to marry his wife Mercedes are ruined when his supposed best friend, Vernand, betrays him in order to get Mercedes for himself. Edmond is unjustly sentenced to an island prison after being framed by Vernand for high treason and is trapped in a nightmare for thirteen years. This key element is clearly apparent in our piece of drama, as Fernando, a rich and successful man soon to wed his Fiancà ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½e Victoria, is betrayed by his two deceitful friends who envy his wealth and is cast away by them to a deserted island. Obviously we have shared and incorporated the same basic ideas and themes in order to create an improvised piece of our own. A similar pattern is followed in the theme of revenge. In the Count of Monte Cristo Edmond is aided by an elderly and wise inmate whom he learns from and the two plot to escape from prison but only Edmond succeeds and returns to his mainland execute revenge on those who wronged him, under the title of a mysterious Count of Monte Cristo. We too were able draft the theme of revenge into our play. Fernando is aided by a castaway on the island who helps him survive and teaches him how to fight. Eventually, he escapes back to his homeland alone and executes revenge on his old friends using his new skills. This worked effectively in our production and formed the backbone plot to our final improvisation. Both the periods of the Count of Monte Cristo and our play is set in the mid seventeenth century so more research had to be done to make our characters realistic. Another key source that we researched carefully to progress with our island scene was the film, Cast Away. In this movie, a man is cast away to a deserted island where he is forced to learn how to survive for only one reason, his love for his wife. This inspired our play as the only things which Fernando wants to live for when he is on the island is to see his wife again and to execute revenge on his friends who betrayed him. We used the idea of being abandoned alone from home on an island but we incorporated a companion to our main character, Dartanion, who had been living on the island for more than seven years. Research into his characters speech, movement, body language etc was essential as we could not comprehend how somebody would be like after living alone on an island for seven years and therefore looking into movie of Cast Away was very useful. These two sources were our main areas of influence. However we did look into the classic story Robinson Crusoe where a civilized man meets a savage and teaches him how to be civilised. In the case of our play, a savage man teaches a civilised man to be more savage and the basic survival skills. We made it a point to show the character development of Fernando in terms of acting and the on stage relationship between the two. In conclusion, our play was a joint extract of all these sources combined with our own interpretation and improvisation.

Physical Development and Health in Middle Childhood

Physical Development and Health in Middle Childhood Rosibel CastroPhysical Development in Middle Childhood The hidden changes in children's bodies that enable the movements so familiar to us-riding bikes, climbing, jumping, skipping (p.289). Between the ages of 6 and 12, children grow 2 to 3 inches and add about 6 pounds each year. Girls age range are head of boys. Girls also have more body fat and less muscle tissue than boys (p.290). Bones mature in such a regular and predictable way that physicians use bone age as the best single measure of a child's physical maturation. The process of bone development gives us a powerful argument in favor of increased exercise or physical activity for children. The endocrine system strongly influences physical growth and development. During the middle school years, the glands of the endocrine system change gradually in ways to prepare the body for the momentous changes that will occur during sexual maturation, or puberty. A muscle mass increases in middle childhood, so does strength. Boys and girls differ in strength in two ways:Boys outperform girls on measures of strength, including tasks that involve using the muscles to apply pressure to a device used to measure muscle force. The ratio of strength to body size is greater amongst boys, thus boys require less effort to move their bodies through space than girls do. Both boys and girls become stronger during middle childhood.Children's capacity for extended physical activity (stamina) rises steeply across the middle childhood years as well. (Gabbard,2008). If we observe children at the playgrounds, we will notice that preschoolers display short bursts of physical activity followed by periods of rest. Changes in stamina are linked to growth of the heart and lungs, which is evident during later years of middle childhood. These changes enable children bodies to take in more oxygen and to distribute it throughout the body more efficiently. Two major growth spurts happen in the brain during middle childhood. (Spreen, Risser, ; Edgell, 1995). In most healthy children, the first takes place between the ages 6 and 8, the second between the ages 10 and 12. Both spurts involve development of new synapses as well as increase in the thickness of the cortex. Some of the first motor skills infants use are eye movements, and slowly this expands to movement of the arms, legs, and hands (even though they're uncoordinated). Eventually, the child begins crawling and walking. Gross motor skills involve activities like rolling over, sitting up, crawling, and walking. These allow the child to gain new perspectives from which to evaluate their surrounding environment, enabling them to begin learning social skills and rules. Fine motor skills involve more intricate tasks like touching, grabbing, and manipulating objects, enabling learning about the details of different objects and people. Advances in both gross and fine motor skills interact to allow children to develop sports skills such as hitting a baseball. About one-quarter to one-third of children in the united states suffer from allergies, immune reactions to substances called allergens. Children who have respiratory allergies experience sneezing, stuffy noses, and more frequent sinus infections. Food allergies can affect the respiratory system as well. The most frequent cause of school absences is asthma. Asthma is a chronic lung disease in which individuals experience sudden, potentially fatal attacks of breathing difficulty. An acute illness has the following characteristics:Onset is usually abrupt and from a single causeDevelops quickly and worsens rapidly, such as an infection, trauma or injuryUsually isolated to one bodily areaCan be diagnosed and responds to treatmentAcute pain stops when the illness is healedMay heal by itself or can be treated and returned to normal within a few days or up to three monthsIf it lasts longer than three months, it may be the start of a chronic illnessThe following are generally descriptive of chronic illnesses:Onset is commonly gradualDuration is lengthy and indefiniteCause is usually multiple and can be a combination of genetic and environmental factorsDiagnosis is often uncertain; getting an accurate diagnosis can be a long, difficult processThere is no cure and requires management over time In my opinion, we do most of the learning about our bodies during middle childhood, the reason I say this is because, we learn about ourselves, the environment around us, this i s the time when we are truly exposed to everything out there.
